Peterson Garden Project

Peterson Garden Project’s Cookbook Club is all the best parts of a potluck, book club and dinner party! Make a dish from this month’s book, bring it to the dinner (along with a bottle of wine or beer, if you’d like!), meet new people, try new recipes, discuss the cookbook and enjoy the company of your fellow diners. Learn more!

Alice Waters is an icon of the local, sustainable food movement, and we’re excited to cook from The Art of Simple Food II for our first cookbook club selection! This book offers plenty of delicious recipes to try, plus plenty of information about how to grow your own edibles in whatever space you have available (handy if you’re starting to plan this year’s garden!).

“A beautiful vegetable-focused book, The Art of Simple Food II showcases flavor as inspiration and embodies Alice’s vision for eating what grows in the earth all year long. She shares her understanding of the whole plant, demystifying the process of growing and cooking your own food, and reveals the vital links between taste, cooking, gardening, and taking care of the land. Along the way, she inspires you to feed yourself deliciously through the seasons.” – Amazon

This event is BYOB. Copies of the book are available at the Chicago Public Library.

  • After registering, you’ll receive a link to a Google doc along so you can add:
    • the name of the recipe(s) you’re planning to make
    • if oven or stove space is needed for reheating/keeping a dish warm
  • As much as possible, we stick to the recipe as written.
  • We meet, we eat, we drink (BYO). We talk about the recipes we made, what worked and what didn’t, what other recipes we want to try (or have tried).
  • We pick a cookbook for the next meeting.
