Fall Garden Tasks (demo)

Join us for a demonstration on fall tasks for your edible garden. Using a raised garden bed, we will show you how to:
We’ll discuss how to prevent frost heaving, nutrient and drainage requirements, the biology of growing great garlic, and choosing the best garlic variety for your favorite recipes. We will have a garlic tasting so you can be sure to know you’ll enjoy what you’re planting. Attendees will each take away a bulb of organic garlic to plant in their own garden.
-Dividing and overwintering perennials
Are your chives taking over your garden plot? We’ll show you how to divide your edible perennial herbs (chives, thyme, mint) and transplant into another garden spot for next year’s harvest. We’ll also show you how to overwinter edible perennials (herbs, strawberries, rosemary) so they survive the winter.
-Putting your garden to bed
We’ll show you how to put the garden to bed – apply compost and mulch, clear out disease- or pest-ridden vegetation, and discuss pruning.
Class fee includes 1 bulb of seed garlic from local farm Willow Garlic Growers and breath mints.
